Scanning pictures is easy. ITC has two scanners that allow you to scan photographs, 35 mm slides, transparencies, and 3D objects. Two of our scanners are hooked up to computers so faculty and staff can use Photoshop to scan graphics. The Microtek scanner is not connected to a computer and it is as simple to use as a copy machine. You can save your pictures on floppy disks or on zip disks. You can choose the resolution you want (within limits), where do you want to save, whether you want to scan in color or black and white, and hit scan. Although it is extremely easy to scan with this scanner, users are giving up control over scanning settings and after scanning editing in return for ease of use. We also have the capability to scan in text (OCR) with OmniPage software. Whenever you are planning on scanning in text, please keep in mind that the copy you are scanning needs to be good quality, our software does not allow for handwriting recognition, and the more complicated the fonts and/or the layout, the more likely you will have to spend a lot of time "cleaning up" the file. Depending on some of the aforementioned factors, for certain documents it might be faster to re-type as opposed to scan and reformat.
